Louise's page in Anne's "Light through the cracks"

Have just finished my page in Anne's gorgeous journal

Sometimes I struggle with the themes and I just need to wait till inspiration strikes,

Once I found this quote the page just flowed.

"When the Japanese mend broken objects, they aggrandize the damage by filling the cracks with gold, they believe that when something's suffered and has a history it becomes more beautiful."

Sanity by a Thread

I have enjoyed working
in Shari's beautiful journal

It became quite contemplative
as I played with lots of layers.

I have been going through a lot lately

so my page reflects the things
that help me maintain my own sanity

I hope you like it Shari <3

Bygone Era

I worked in Beth's journal while I was away traveling

I had limited resources to art or research
so I had to take my inspiration from a pic
someone had kindly donated in the back pocket- thank you.

I liked the symmetry of traveling with a traveling art journal :)
and I hope you like your page Beth.

Alice in Wonderland on Halloween

Here is my page in Loren's lovely journal,
I was very challenged by this theme
 as we don't celebrate Halloween
and I have not read Alice - yet.

I didn't let that stop me though
and I enjoyed it very much.

Totem Animals spread from Anne

I got Louise's journal at the start of the week. I knew before hand I wanted to do something with Zuni fetish bears (I collect them as well as other fetishes). We're travelling the the US southwest next week so its colours and motifs were on my mine. So the result ...

Kalona's spread in Louise's journal

Well, I finally dared to put paint to paper... Trouble with knowing what you want to end up with is that it is almost guaranteed to not happen! For me anyway...  but you've gotta do it!!

So without further ado here it is,

My totem is a cat...I am sure my girls return and visit me constantly, and Zazel always had a special way of knowing when I was down and snuggle more than usual.
Hope you like it Louise.xxx

Lucine's entry for Louise

Hope all artists are doing well. It has been some weeks and I knew I wanted to give Louise a glimpse of my entry in her journal. I am not so satisfied with the pictures, but it gives you a peek of the page.
First page:

Second page

The double page in one sight.

At the moment I have no journals. Looking forward to the next to work in. Have a nice Sunday☺

Louise's work in Deedee's Journal ~ "Nature, Dreams and Visions"

I have had the pleasure this week of working in this beautiful travelling art journal. It was hand made and the above art work was done by Deedee Forrester from California.
Her theme is Nature , Dreams and Visions.

Inside her journal there are some very beautiful entries and these lovely words from Deedee~
"Our journals are on a daring flight around the world. Letting go of something we love, something we have started, giving back to each other is as life should be ."

It has been such a pleasure to give my work to Deedee and share my nature, dreams and visions in her lovely journal. I have long admired Deedee's work so was thrilled when she joined up into this swap with me.

Deedee has generously added extra pages into her journal and invited everyone to do more than one if they would like to, so I took her up on her offer and did 2 pages.

The one above I did using stencils and sprays, markers and stamps.
I took this journal down to the local skate park with my boys the other day, and it certainly made those few hours a whole lot more pleasant.

This page was inspired by one of my favorite lessons I did in a wonderful art journaling course 30 Days with Gulfsprite   taught by the  very talented artist and gifted teacher Christy Sobolewski .

Louise's work in Rachels "Purple Owl Tree"

I have finished my work in Rachel's cute little journal and I loved her theme- Purple Owl Tree.

I chose to do 2 pages.
For the one above I used mainly my favourite pen of all time a uni pin fine line in various sizes
and a little bit of caran d'ache neocolor 11

It this page my fabulous little boy Mr8 played with me and we used Derwent  Inktense pencils, some gesso  and Mr8's fun contribution of some little brads to be the owls.

Louise's entry into Rachels 'Purple Owl Tree' journal ~ November 2011

Woohhoo
Here we go!
This is the first journal belonging to one of my fellow artists that I have worked in! It belongs to our gorgeous Rachel and her theme is Purple Owl Tree.
I am sorry about the pics but I did so want to share and I am using a very cobbled together system atm.

ARTIST: Louise Kirby- TOTEM ANIMALS

My little journal is ready for its journey.

It has a canvas cover,
and I had to make my own feathers as customs rules in Australia are very strict about feathers and leaves and seeds etc.

My theme is
TOTEM ANIMALS
and I am really excited about my journal
taking this journey around the world
gathering wisdom
and
beautiful art works
from my fellow artists.

This is a little welcome booklet
with some lovely elephants
I have had for a while and I have
been looking for a good place to use them.

A wise owl for my title page.

Stacey has asked us to also do our first double page spread
and I chose to do Platypus as my totem animal.

The platypus is a unique Australian animal.
They are monotremes.
Mammals that lay eggs
instead of live birthing their young,
and they produce milk to feed their young.
Platypus are only found on the east coast
of Australia so are a very local totem to where I live.

They are very interesting and secretive creatures
Here is my journal,
all ready to travel the world,
I wish I could tuck myself between its pages
and go along as well.
