Beth, your pages are finally ready! I hope you like my interpretation. Unnfortunately, the pages did not scan very clearly. I will be off to the post office in a few minutes. Kalona's spread for Beth's "Bygone Era"

Well, here it is, a pic taken at 98% complete... so as to leave a bit of a suprise, eh!

This is the 2 page spread together. I've posted the separate pages on the journal section my blog. 

 I've always been into the nicer side of medieval history, you know- the flowing gowns, knights on horses, dragons and chivalry... so it had to be my theme for a bygone age.

There's a bit of my chainmaille in there, some embossed copper, lots of stencilled gel medium, acrylics, pastel pencils and inks. Hope Beth likes it...

My page in Beth's "Bygone Era" art journal. A really beautiful art journal, but it was a challenge. I conquered and I am so satisfied with this page. Sometimes vintage seems a mystery to me, so I tried to bring some colour in this Bygone Era. I tried to make red look bygone. Hope you'll like it Beth:-D

Received ...

The art journals are really moving, yayyy☺  I received a page for Mary (theme: Fairy Tales). A second AJ was delivered; theme is: Bygone Era, so it is Beth's AJ. I'm so glad to have an art journal of this round robin again. Beth's art journal is just sooo beautiful! It is so nice to watch impressions of the good old time. Awesome, really awesome.

I worked in Beth's journal while I was away traveling

I had limited resources to art or research 

so I had to take my inspiration from a pic

 someone had kindly donated in the back pocket- thank you.

I liked the symmetry of traveling with a traveling art journal :)

Anne's journal

Anne's journal, "Light Through The Crack",  arrived in December. I understand the meaning of the saying, but, how would I express it in her journal? I spent a long time contemplating about this. Ideas, just did not come. I'm a very literal thinker. I never was good at deep thinking.

I decided to go with dark colors for the background. An idea came to mind. Half way done and I had to walk away. It wasn't working. I would pass this little journal and think, "How do I express this?". I found this quote by Joseph Carpenter, " The black moment is the moment when the real message of the transformation is going to come. At the darkest moment comes the light."

After several more attempts this is what I came up with. Thanks, Anne, for giving me something to shake my brain into thinking different. The light eventually  found a crack.

"Bygone Era" Page Spread

Here's the page spread I completed for Beth's journal. I loved the image as it reflected a New Year - okay 1875 but, still a new year; another new beginning for everyone. Hope Beth likes it.

I hope to get this journal on it's way to Loren soon.

I will begin working on Sadie's "Haiku" journal spread.

Beth's page in Marie's Journal "Nature"

I finished my snow scene in Marie's Journal. I decided to do a snow scene because it is winter in Pennsylvania. It is Christmas time and New Year's. I love the quiet beauty when it snows.

 After much thought, I decided the theme for my journal would be "Bygone Eras". I have always been attracted to things that are old. I'm fascinated with the way other generations have lived their lives; the way they dress; their hair styles, furnishings, and family pictures.
  This will be a fun and creative journey. It is a wondrous present to receive and give artwork. The opportunity to have other artists' interpretation is a gift I will truly hold dear.

 My cover is made of leather. I purchased a black leather skirt at a thrift shop. I ran it through the washer several times to get the worn look. Then, used several inks to get it to the color I was looking for.
