Lucine for Loren: Halloween in Wonderland

Three art journals I will mail to the United Kingdom today. I finished the last art journal I had. It's Loren's with Halloween in Wonderland as theme. There are very nice pages in this journal. Here I share with the page I created for Loren. I wonder how I could mix Halloween with Alice in Wonderland. I assumed Halloween in Wonderland must be a mix of Halloween and Alice in Wonderland. Love this theme as it is another challenge to be creative in a very broad way. Vivid colours can be used on both themes, but one can choose to do Alice in Wonderland in a vintage look. Loren's art journal has black pages, so I used a lot of white in addition to collages. I hope Loren enjoys this page.

Lucine for Beth

My page in Beth's "Bygone Era" art journal. A really beautiful art journal, but it was a challenge. I conquered and I am so satisfied with this page. Sometimes vintage seems a mystery to me, so I tried to bring some colour in this Bygone Era. I tried to make red look bygone. Hope you'll like it Beth:-D

~ Totem Animals ~

This is the spread I just finished last night in Louise's journal. I had never given much thought to totem animals before... so I had to wait until it spoke to me and it came to me in a dream. My totem animal is a Tiger. Marie

Mary's Page Spread in Sadie's Journal

I enjoyed working in Sadie's Haiku journal. I found a butterfly Haiku that I liked and went with the butterflly theme. Love butterflies and I hope Sadie does too. I do get carried away sometimes so there's lots of butterflies fluttering through the sky.........

Once I mail Sadie's journal to Loren next week, I will not have any journals to work on from our group.

Smile, Do not Fear

Hi Everyone, Just like Beth said below... I too had sort of a "artist's block" and had no idea how to relate to the theme and wanted to take my time with it as it's not my journal... right? So, after my Saturday morning Art Class which usually gets the juices flowing the idea came to me and I worked on it most of Sunday. Lucine, I hope you like it. She's at peace with herself...

Anne's journal

Anne's journal, "Light Through The Crack",  arrived in December. I understand the meaning of the saying, but, how would I express it in her journal? I spent a long time contemplating about this. Ideas, just did not come. I'm a very literal thinker. I never was good at deep thinking.

I decided to go with dark colors for the background. An idea came to mind. Half way done and I had to walk away. It wasn't working. I would pass this little journal and think, "How do I express this?". I found this quote by Joseph Carpenter, " The black moment is the moment when the real message of the transformation is going to come. At the darkest moment comes the light."

After several more attempts this is what I came up with. Thanks, Anne, for giving me something to shake my brain into thinking different. The light eventually  found a crack.

Mary's Fairy Tales Journal

Two months in a row I've worked in journals with a fairy tale theme...quite a stretch for me who is a tomboy at heart.  Me and my brother's GI Joe action figures were good pals (as were climbing trees!) when I was little...and so, fairy tales just gathered dust in my house.  Either way, I had fun working in Mary's journal this month and decided to do a spread on Rapunzel.  But of course, I had to add a bit of humour to the spread with a poem I found online that I thought was hysterical and fitting for my spread.  Since you can't read the small font, here it is for your reading pleasure.

"Rapunzel! Rapunzel! You've cut off your hair!
Your billowing tresses are no longer there.
That mohawk you're sporting is spiky and pink.
I'm really not certain just what I should think.

"I came here expecting to clamber a braid,
ascending your tower to come to your aid.
Instead I have suffered the greatest of shocks
to find that you've cut off your lovely blonde locks."

"Prince Charming, Prince Charming," Rapunzel replied,
"I have no intention of being your bride.
We will not get married. We will not elope.
I've cut off my hair and I've braided a rope.

"You came here to visit me once every day,
and promised that soon you would take me away,
but you were too clueless to even conceive
of cutting my hair off so we could just leave.

"I cannot believe you were such a big dope.
I come and I go as I please with my rope.
And so, I'm afraid I can't give you my hand.
In spite of the fabulous wedding you planned."

From then on Rapunzel was known through the land.
She toured the world in a rock and roll band.
And silly Prince Charming, with rocks in his head,
rode off and got married to Snow White instead.

"Bygone Era" Page Spread

Here's the page spread I completed for Beth's journal. I loved the image as it reflected a New Year - okay 1875 but, still a new year; another new beginning for everyone. Hope Beth likes it.

I hope to get this journal on it's way to Loren soon.
I will begin working on Sadie's "Haiku" journal spread.

Anne's Page in Trine's Journal "Blue"

This photo isn't the greatest -- my favorite camera for taking shots of art just died and close indoor things too often come out blurry with my other camera.

But I did have fun making the page! I've never built a waterfront cottage and it's only been a flitting dream -- I wouldn't want the hassle of managing two abodes! But if I were to build one, this is how messy the planning phase would be.

Beth's page in Marie's Journal "Nature"

I finished my snow scene in Marie's Journal. I decided to do a snow scene because it is winter in Pennsylvania. It is Christmas time and New Year's. I love the quiet beauty when it snows.

Artist: Marie Austen

I joined this Round Robin as an opportunity to share artwork with other women/artists who are passionate about creating art as I am and to explore different themes; to see what inspires us. I am inspired by the beauty in nature, especially flowers and trees (birches!! - LOL). So the theme of my journal is: The Beauty of Nature. This is my first time blogging so please forgive me Ladies if my pics are too big etc. I am loving this process and look forward to receiving my journal one day with your gifts inside!!

Our new Facebook page...

Linking to Facebook

I've now linked up to Facebook, as I've not done this before I don't know if I've done it the best way or not, but we'll see.
15 +1 link
BUT, the simplest way to get our work up there is to hit the tiny F button in the block of buttons at the bottom of  each and every post, so do that when you add a new post and the FB page will mirror posts here.

Also there is a new Link to  facebook button on the right of the page, click on that to get there.

I'm still working on getting so you can all post as well as comment..it's changed since I did it several years back...

There should also be little LIKE buttons appearing at the bottom of each post...from now on, I hope.

If anyone knows a bit more about this kind of linking and can offer advice/expertise, please let me know!! Not really my strongpoint, I just get by!
 See you all there!!
